"This morning, the sun endures past dawn.
I realize that it is August: the summer's last
stand."
Sara Baume
As we begin the month of August it's hard to believe the summer is almost over. I hope you had time to read some books. On some of those awful humid days there's nothing better than lounging around with a book. I read some good ones, and some maybe not.
I enjoyed Two Nights in Lisbon by Chris Pavone. Quite the fast paced international thriller with a twist at the end.
Kara Thomas book, Lost to Dune Road, is a good story fiction about the Gilgo Beach murders.
For those who have been enjoying the Richard Osman Thursday Muder Club series, it's being made into a film. Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, Pierce Brosnan and Heleb Mirren are just a few of the actors cast to be it.
I'm excited to see one of my favorite Scandinavian detective series being made into a Netflix series, Jo Nesbo's Harry Hole, who’s with the Oslo Crime Squad. Interestingly, in the first book of the series, The Bat, he’s been sent to Sydney, Australia, to help them in a murder investigation. It’s a great series. I liked it a bit more than Steig Larson’s series.
I have found that I like a book made into a (good) series instead of a movie. Michael Connelly's Bosch series is just one of severalgood one.
In the Keep an Eye Out For list there’s a few I’m looking forward to reading.
William Kent Kruger is a favorite of mine, his new one, Spirit Crossing, is high on my list.
Brad Thor is always a good read. Shadow of a Doubt is on my list. I always enjoy Rhys Bowen, her book, Rose Arbor sounds good. Set in London 1968, it reaches back to solve a murder mystery that occurred during WWII. WWII is still one of my favorite time periods.

For those of you who would like to continue receiving BevsBookBeat, let me know. It’ll be a bit different.
Thank you for letting me share what I love to do with you.
“August is the slow, gentle month that stretches out the longest across the span of a year. It yawns and lingers on with the light in its palms.”
