Event Details
Planet Earth is facing a human-induced crisis – global warming, which is affecting our climate and the ecosystems that depend on a stable climate. Around the world, on any given day, we see heat waves setting records, droughts affecting the world’s food supplies, extreme precipitation events causing massive flooding, wildfires that threaten lives and property, sea level rise forcing millions to contemplate migrating, ocean warming and acidification threatening marine economies, glaciers and ice sheets melting threatening water supplies, tropical cyclones rapidly intensifying to dangerous levels, and this is a partial list. To deal with any problem, we must first identify that problem. This presentation attempts to do just that, make the science clear. The science is not complex and has been well understood for centuries, at least since 1859. After understanding the problem, we investigate some of the consequences of inaction. The final chapter examines the solutions we have available. The problem is serious, but there is still time for a course-correct. But only if humanity acts immediately and with a singular purpose. Join us on this journey of discovery. The future of a habitable planet might depend on it.
