Getting Started with Libby
Libby is available for download on all IOS, Android and Kindle Fire devices. For those reading on a Kindle paperwhite, you will need to download the app on your smartphone, iPad, or other device. Libby is available for all desktop computers and laptops: Libby Desktop.
Signing in will require that you find your library and use your library card barcode to login. This code is found on the back of your library card. Please make sure that you are not including any spaces when you enter your barcode and double check that you have entered the correct numbers. Our barcodes contain multiple zeros which has caused visual problems in the past. Password resets can be accomplished by visiting the Livebrary website. Please note you will have to come into the library to reset the password if you do not have an email address associated with your library account.
Once you have logged on to your account you will be able to borrow titles. There is is option to search for titles, it is an icon that looks like a magnifying glass.
How can I borrow ebooks and digital audiobooks?
Overdrive allows our patrons to borrow digital books and audiobooks through their app called Libby. Libby requires the user to hold a valid Suffolk County Library card. The app also allows you to read with any Kindle device. Audiobooks will play through Bluetooth enabled speakers and headphones. You may access our troubleshooting guide by clicking here.
If you need help, have any questions or need assistance navigating the app please call 631-298-4134 to schedule an appointment with our Technology Coordinator.
