National Library Week 2024: Ready, Set, Library!

National Library Week is here (April 7 – 13)!

Each year we celebrate National Library Week, which is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.

On Monday, April 8th we will be celebrating Right to Read Day along with the 2024 total solar eclipse. Right to Read Day is a National Day of Action in support of the right to read. The State of America's Libraries Report is released, including Top Ten Most Challenged Books of 2023.

Tuesday, April 9th is National Library Workers Day is Tuesday, April 9th, a day for everyone to recognize the valuable contributions made by library workers.

Wednesday, April 10th is National Library Outreach Day, a day the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are.

Thursday, April 11th is Take Action for Libraries Day, a day for all library advocates to affirm their participation in 2024 elections.

Celebrate National Library Week by visiting the Mattituck-Laurel Library (or any library!). Meet the library staff, check out books or an item from our Library of Things or attend one of our upcoming programs.
