"Fork" - Watercolors by David Warren
David Warren took a vacation on the North Fork for the first time thirty-five years ago. Seventeen years ago he bought a house here, and since retiring two years ago from the practice of law in New York City, he and his wife Noreen have become full-time residents in Mattituck. When they first visited the area the leading crop was potatoes, now it’s grapes, and vineyards have replaced most of the potato fields. The North Fork has changed in other ways as well. What has remained constant though is the hypnotic beauty of the landscape as it unspools along Oregon Road, New Suffolk Avenue, or the Orient causeway, to name just three of the innumerable locations that call out to be painted. The work in this show is part of a modest effort to answer that call.
All are welcome to an opening reception on Saturday, February 8 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the Library Gallery.
