The Friends of the Mattituck Laurel Library we’re finally able to have our first meeting of the year in mid-October. Just crazy, but what hasn’t been weird this year?

Due to the pandemic, we have decided to suspend all membership and fundraising efforts. The total membership from 2019-2020 will be extended for this year without additional dues. Fundraising for our scholarship grants rely on the generosity of our local merchants. In consideration of the upheaval in normal business, we have decided not to request assistance this year. We did grant a scholarship in June and hope to do the same in June of 2021. This being said, our major concern is for the well-being of everyone in our community. If you find yourself in a position to make a donation, it is very appreciated and tax deductible. We will get through this - together.

If you love books, meeting people and supporting our amazing library, we invite you to join the Friends of the Mattituck-Laurel Library. Each July, we mail an invitation to join the Friends to every resident. Your membership fees go toward concerts and cultural programs, the children's summer program and any other special need the library might have. In addition, we hold a December raffle which is earmarked for our scholarship fund. These scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors at Mattituck High School.

We have meetings on the third Tuesday of each month from April through December. It would be great if your could join us at these meetings to really become part of the Friends. We could always use a helping hand with stuffing envelopes, handing out ice cream at our Kid's Hot Dog Picnic, and book sales. Most of all we would value your input. We are a very informal group, so please stop by and make some friends.

The Friends of the Mattituck-Laurel Library is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. This means that our supporters can deduct financial contributions to the Friends on their federal tax returns. We thank all our members for their committment to the Friends as we look for more ways to promote and support our local library.
